I'm sure there are those of you here who play for more money than I do, but keep in mind, I'm used to playing for lower stakes, so...
I lost about $200 today, playing mostly $50 buy-in NL.
I had pocket aces cracked FOUR times in a five hour session.
I've never been so infuriated in my life.
Every time, someone called my big raise or reraise with folding hands like K3 suited, 56 offsuit, and caught two pair on the flop or straight on the turn.
The best one, though it didn't happen today, was when someone called my all-in (with another caller!) with 10 4 suited, caught two pair on the flop, and full house on the turn.
I'm THIS close to giving up poker forever, I swear. |

| I feel your pain, man. It's happened to me many many times. Don't give up. I'd suggest taking some time to study the game more right now and not play much at the moment. Get a new poker book maybe, or join PokerXFactor.com if you can. Incredible teaching site, with great videos and great forums (I've got the most posts there, love the place). It's worth the cost and then some. It's mostly for tournaments, but they're starting to put up more cash game videos as well. |

| I agree, just take some time away, I dont know how you played the aces in all four cases but I bet by the time you got the 4th pair you were pretty pissed about the other 3 and emotion probaly played too much of a part, thats another thing you gotta keep in check, I get flusterred pretty easy if I think someone else is playing like more of a donkey than me. |

The first aces I laid down on the turn when it was obvious that the caller had a flush or straight. It was a horrible, horrible board. The second set of aces, the guy had K3s of the wrong suit. I had a flush draw on the turn, which I bet like I had the flush, and the river came up blank, so I put him on big slick or maybe the flush I'd missed, but he didn't bet like it, so I went all in. He called without even thinking. He'd flopped two pair.
There was another pair of aces somewhere, but I forget what happened there.
The last pair of aces, I'd just gotten a really bad beat the previous hand. It wasn't just the aces I'd gotten a bad beat with that day. I had three callers for a big raise from the button, and the board came up 678. I put in a pot-sized bet and two callers folded. The third raised and I called. The turn came up 9. The remaining caller put in a big bet, and I was in full steam mode at this time, so I just went all in, and he showed his 56. Offsuit.
That's about when I lost it completely. I did some damage to my wall and completely destroyed my keyboard tray. Not one of my finer moments.
I'm taking some time off from poker, but I'll get back into it in a week or so. |
